How to send money on WhatsApp in Nigeria
Send money to any Nigerian bank from the WhatsApp chat. Step by step, from picking the bank to the receipt.
You can send money to any Nigerian bank or fintech wallet directly from WhatsApp, no app to open. Here is the full flow on Aurra, from your first message to the receipt.
Before you start
You need a verified Aurra account with money in your wallet. If you are new, send hi to Aurra on WhatsApp and follow the onboarding screens. Once verified, fund your wallet by transferring to your virtual account number from any bank.
Step by step
- Open the Aurra chat and tap Send Money from the menu, or type
send. - Pick the recipient's bank from the list, or search for it by name.
- Enter the 10-digit account number. Aurra shows you the account name so you can confirm it is the right person before you send.
- Enter the amount you want to send.
- Review the screen. It shows the amount, any fee, and the total that will leave your wallet.
- Type your 6-digit PIN to confirm.
- You get a receipt in the chat, and the transaction shows up in your history straight away.
Checking the name matters
The account name step is the one to never skip. Nigerian bank transfers cannot be reversed easily once they land, so a quick look at the name before you confirm is the cheapest mistake you will ever avoid.
Your first transfer of the day is free
Every day, your first transfer up to a set amount is free. After that, a small fee applies that scales with the amount. The exact figures are always on the pricing page, and the fee is shown on the review screen before your PIN is ever requested.
Sending to another Aurra user? Pick their phone number instead of a bank, and the transfer is instant and free.
