How to pay your electricity bill on WhatsApp
Pay prepaid or postpaid power bills from the chat. Your token or confirmation lands in the same thread.
Electricity bills can be paid from the same WhatsApp chat you use for transfers and airtime. You pick your provider, enter your meter number, review the amount, and the token or confirmation lands in the thread. No queue, no scratch card, no second app.
Step by step
- In the Aurra chat, tap Bills then Electricity, or type
electricity. - Choose your distribution company from the list.
- Pick prepaid or postpaid to match your meter.
- Enter your meter number. Aurra validates it and shows the meter name so you know it is the right one.
- Enter the amount you want to pay.
- Review the total, which includes a flat fee, then type your 6-digit PIN.
- The prepaid token (or postpaid confirmation) arrives in the same chat, alongside your receipt.
Why the meter name matters
Just like a bank transfer, electricity payments are hard to reverse. The meter name step lets you catch a typo in the meter number before money leaves your wallet, not after the token has already gone to a stranger's meter.
Prepaid versus postpaid
Prepaid meters generate a token you punch into the meter itself. Postpaid payments settle the bill directly against the account. Aurra handles both; you only need to pick the right option at step three, and the meter name check confirms it either way.
What it costs
A flat fee applies per electricity payment, shown on the review screen before your PIN is requested. Check the pricing page for the current figure.

Common questions
What if the token does not arrive?
If your wallet was debited but the token did not land, the money is refunded automatically. Your history on the dashboard shows the refund, and you can also type status on WhatsApp.
Can I pay for someone else?
Yes. Enter their meter number instead of yours. Handy when a parent or neighbour runs out of units at night.
